The College Basketball Star Turned Mental Health Advocate:
As a senior in high school, Kyler Erickson witnessed a school shooting, done so by one of his classmates. As it turned his world upside down, he struggled to find hope in the midst of turmoil. After watching his college education, physical health and the very world around him slip further away, he finally admitted to, and sought help for his Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
He first talked to his family and close friends, telling them how much mental pain he was going through. Kyler went through months and months of vigorous therapy, a procedure called EMDR (Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing).
After being healed and finding peace, he has followed his dreams and is currently a public speaker for mental health, speaking everywhere from our local schools, to and Allstate insurance conference in Las Vegas. His mission? To help others to recognize, reach out, have courage, and remember that they are loved. To get in touch with Kyler, or if you’re interested in hearing him speak, check his website here.
